Salem Fall Restaurant Week 2011

The Salem Chamber of Commerce is set to welcome back the 5th Annual Fall Restaurant Week. This ten day event will kick off on Sunday, November 6th and run through Thursday, November 10th. It will start back up again on Sunday, November 13th and finish off on Thursday, November 17th.  Due to last year’s overwhelming success, more than 20 of Salem’s best restaurants will be participating.

This year’s event will feature some of the finest establishments on the North Shore offering exquisite cuisine at mouth-watering prices. During Restaurant Week, diners can enjoy a prix-fixe two-course dinner menu for $15 or a prix-fixe three-course dinner menu for $25. Prices are per person and exclude beverages, tax, and gratuity.

Co-owners of the North Shore Dish (northshoredish.com), Jill Rose and Kristen Nyberg, shared their enthusiasm about the event, “It’s been a real pleasure watching Salem’s Restaurant Week grow over the past several years. With so many new restaurants in town, it’s the perfect opportunity for people to support the local economy and try something new at the same time.”

New to this year’s lineup is 43 Church, located in what was formerly The Lyceum. The restaurant introduced its new name and “without the beefy attitude” steakhouse concept this past September. Other participating restaurants include: 62 Restaurant and Wine Bar, Adriatic Restaurant and Bar, Bella Verona, Black Lobster at Stromberg’s Cove, Café Polonia, Capt.’s Waterfront Grill & Club, Cilantro, Finz Seafood & Grill, Grapevine Restaurant, The Great Escape, Green Land Café, Howling Wolf Taqueria, Lobster Shanty, Nathaniel’s at the Hawthorne Hotel, Regatta Pub at the Salem Waterfront Hotel, Rockafellas, Salem Beer Works, Seaport Café, Thai Place, and Victoria Station.

Spring Restaurant week expands to ten days!

Salem Spring Restaurant Week will kick off on Sunday, April 3, featuring the best local cuisine at value pricing.  For 10 days only, participating Salem area restaurants will offer either a two-course prix-fix dinner menu for $15, or a three-course prix-fixe dinner menu for $25, or both (note that this price does not include drinks, taxes or gratuities).

Salem has become a culinary destination and people really look forward to this event. Expect a wide variety of delicious foods - from steak to seafood, American to ethnic, there is something for everyone. 
 
Restaurants offer multiple choices for appetizers, entrees as well as deserts.  Reservations are encouraged, please contact the restaurants directly. Mention "Restaurant Week" when making your reservations.

So much in Salem (yet again!)

I spent my morning in meetings, the second of which was at the Hawthorne Hotel where we were fed yummy, and might I add warm, cookies. It's hard to complain about a long agenda with a snickerdoodle in your hand.

That said, everywhere I've turned today I have been given programming, events, and festivals. I just can't keep all of this information to myself, so here are a few bullet points - and links for more information.

First off, this weekend the Peabody Essex Museum is hosting Sensational India, a weekend celebration of the art, music, dance, and cuisine of India. Acitivites are for all ages, but many require reservations, so check the pem.org for more information.

Next in queue, we will celebrate Spring Restaurant Week next week, April 11 - 15. Make reservations at one of the participating restaurants and enjoy a prix fixed, three course dinner for $25. What a great date night!

Restaurant Week is the excuse you've been waiting for to try a new restaurant, or get back to an old favorite.

After you've filled up on fine cuisine, get in shape during Health & Wellness Week. Organized by Salem Main Streets, this is what we hope will be an annual celebration of all things healthy in Salem. Plan your work out, your Yoga, your spa service, and be entered into a raffle for fantastic prizes. Health and Wellness Week will run April 12-17.

The Salem Farmers' Market doesn't open until June 17, but you can get in the mood for locally grown foods at Sixty2 on Wharf this Sunday, April 12. Sixty2 is hosting the Cultivating Community Fundraiser for the Salem Farmers' Market. There will be live jazz music, a cash bar, a silent auction, and passed hors d'oeuvres. Tickets are $20 and they are going fast. They are available at Sixty2 on Wharf and the Salem Chamber of Commerce.

It's Fall Restaurant Week in Salem!

Salem's Restaurant Weeks - presented by the Salem Chamber of Commerce - is a great opportunity to get out and eat - especially if you're like me and have Champagne taste and a family-to-feed budget.

Fall restaurant week began on Sunday and runs through Thursday, September 17th. The participating restaurants are offering three-course prix-fixe dinner menus for $25 (which does not include drinks, taxes, or gratuities).

Whether you choose a restaurant on Washington Street, which has become known as "Eat Street" in Salem, or Pickering Wharf, or anywhere in between you will find great dining options at the participating restaurants.

Perhaps this is the opportunity for you to try something new (Have you always wanted to have dinner at Nathaniel's in the Hawthorne Hotel? They serve award-winning cuisine, but you forget about it because it's within the hotel?), or the motivation to return to a favorite spot (Finz, Victoria Station, Capt.'s, perhaps?). Three courses for $25 is a great deal, and a great reason to get out of your own kitchen for a night this week.

Your cravings for steak, lobster, curry, and pasta can all be satisfied this week in Salem. The biggest problem this week will be deciding where to eat!
