Many thanks to the many photographers who submitted images, to the finalists, to the Destination Salem marketing committee, who had the arduous task of narrowing the field of 255 images down to seven, and to the people who voted. Here are your results:
First place, and the cover of the 2011 Salem Guide:
Salem Willows Fence, by Hillary Dearborn |
Second place, and winner of a $50 Salem Chamber of Commerce Gift Certificate:
Hooper Hathaway House by Janet Mahon |
The Turner-Ingersoll Mansion (The House of the Seven Gables) by Elaine Webb |
Congratulations to the winners, and thanks again to everyone who contributed to this year-long contest! Many of the images submitted will be used in the 2011 Salem Guide, which will be available in February.

Well, that's disappointing... "SALEM" is a bit obvious and redundant for the cover of a tourism brochure that will already signify the city's name. Better luck next year, I suppose.
Dear Kevlet,
Thank you for commenting on the contest results. We are delighted every year with the quality and quantity of images entered into the competition. The beauty of the system is that our voters saw something in this photo, which connected with them. The photo won by a landslide. The process has served us well for the past three years and we are looking forward to the success of this photo in speaking to residents and visitors alike. Thank you for following the contest. We appreciate your participation and thank everyone who submitted a photo or voted.
It appears there are "NO" flawed systems in Salem!! Congrats to Hillary for winning the popularity contest, I mean, best photo contest!!!
Sincerely,
Saddened New Englander
